Size Guide

Everything here is cut with negative ease, so the flat measurement is smaller than the body it fits.

Sculpt tanks, ribbed layers, long-sleeve base layers, bodysuits and seamless pieces run XS to XL; cycle shorts and leggings run UK 6 to 18. Measure in centimetres before you order, because everything here is cut with negative ease and the size in a looser top will not transfer.

Measure first, read the label second

Every FITS LIKE layer is graded from body measurements in centimetres and cut with negative ease, which means it is deliberately smaller than you are while it lies flat and only reaches your own measurement once it is on. The size written in a looser top in your wardrobe will not transfer. Take a soft tape, work over bare skin or one thin layer, keep the tape level all the way round to the back, and breathe normally rather than holding yourself in.

  • Bust — around the fullest part, tape horizontal across the back.
  • Underbust — directly beneath the bust, snug enough that the tape stays put when you lower your arms.
  • Waist — the narrowest point, usually 2-3cm above the navel.
  • Hip — the widest part of the seat, roughly 20cm below the waist.
  • Inside leg — barefoot, straight down to the floor. Only needed for leggings and longline shorts.

Body measurements in centimetres

Sculpt tanks, ribbed layers, base layers, bodysuits and seamless pieces run XS to XL. Cycle shorts and leggings are graded UK 6 to 18, because there the waist and hip carry the whole fit and a five-step run is not precise enough. The two systems line up like this.

How much negative ease each family carries

The figures below are taken with the piece relaxed on the table, chest measured 2cm below the arm opening and doubled, length from the highest shoulder point. Comparing them against your own numbers tells you exactly how hard a piece will work.

Cycle shorts and leggings, laid flat and relaxed, measure 55, 59, 63, 67, 71, 76 and 82cm round the waist for UK 6 to 18. Cycle shorts have a 20 to 23cm inside leg and longline shorts 26 to 29cm; full-length leggings run 71 to 74cm and cropped leggings 57 to 60cm.

If you fall between two sizes

The answer depends on the fabric rather than the style. In a recovery double-knit — sculpt tanks, cycle shorts, leggings, base layer bodysuits — take the larger size. That knit has roughly 6cm of comfortable stretch before it starts to read as tight, and a piece that is genuinely too small rolls at the waist instead of holding. In 2×2 rib, take the smaller size, because rib recovers much further and the columns open out on the body. In seamless circular knit, one size honestly covers two bodies, so choose on your hip measurement and ignore the bust column.

For reference, sculpt tanks are drawn at about 6cm of negative ease, ribbed layers at 8 to 10cm, long-sleeve base layers and bodysuits at 4cm, and cycle shorts and leggings at 5cm through the hip. A new piece should feel firm and still let you take a full breath. If you cannot slide two fingers flat under the hem band, it is a size too small; if the hem creeps up when you raise your arms, it is a size too large.

Height and length

Our blocks are drawn for a height of 168cm. Above 178cm, expect the hem of a tank to sit around 2cm higher than the photographs suggest and a full-length legging to read as a cropped length. Sizing up buys about 1.5cm of body length, not the 4cm people often assume, so if length is the problem, choose a longline style rather than a bigger size.

Still not sure

Every product page carries the flat measurements for the size shown, which is the fastest way to compare against something you already own and like. The full charts sit at our size guide. Send your four numbers and the style name to support@fitslike.shop and we will tell you which size we would put in the box. Unworn pieces with their tags attached can be returned within 14 days.
